Hi Günther,
Happy New Year to you also :-).
I'm still not sure what directory you're using! Are you using
openldap (==slapd) or Novell's (NetIQ) eDirectory?
I'm not a linux expert, so I'm not sure which directory Novell
use on SUSE by default :-).
JX does try to search for the root(s) DNs of a directory when it
first connects, but config branches can be handled a bit differently
by a directory; I'm not 100% sure how to access a cn=config branch...
I've just tried it with a recent version of openldap by entering it as
the basedn for connection without much luck.
I *think* that in openldap you need to set up access to the
cn=config branch separately; possibly the following link may help:

Post by Günther J. NiederwimmerHello All,
and a happy new year to all ;),
Post by Chris Bettsare you talking about the Novell eDirectory server? JX certainly
works with that directory... however remember JX is simply an LDAP
client, it's not a management console for any specific directory...
OK ;)
Post by Chris BettsWhich particular directory are you talking about though?
I am not a "Profi" for ldap, but a "Profi" tell me, JX can't read in rootDSE
the configContext in cn=config Backend. JX is searching for namingContexts?
Also JX is not created to read the correct Attribute for cn=config, on
openSUSE Systems.
is this correct.
BUT on this Document the Writer works with JX ;)
sles11sp1"
I like to change only small thing for YaST2 compatible working.
I have no Problem to read the hdb 1 dc=xxxx,dc=xxx with SSL+User+Password, but
I can't found any Help for cn=external cn=config.
Post by Chris BettsPost by Günther J. NiederwimmerHello,
I have a question about jxplorer ,), some people tell me with JX it is not
possible to change any or work on a openSUSE or SLES Ldap server.
I am not a Professional with ldap, but I have to change any in cn=external,
cn=config .
On the other site, I have found a Document on Novell Site with a HOW TO
for my Problem and the Writer is using JX on his document.
But I can't load the cn=config Database on my system :(.
Can any tell me, is this correct JX is not working with openSUSE, or a way
with correct INFO to loadf / edit the cn=config
